It’s contest time! Did you know that there are more than 3700 unique LEGO® elements in the official LEGO inventory? That’s a big selection, but do you ever feel that it’s just not enough?
We’d love to see what new original part you could dream up, and to make this contest more challenging, we’re getting a bit meta: we want to see your dream element built out of LEGO bricks.
Thanks to support from the LEGO Group, you could win a Sanctum Sanctorum or Galaxy Explorer!
Your element can be functionally useful, or purely for aesthetics. It can be any kind of LEGO element – a Technic connector, a minifig accessory, hey why not a DUPLO goat? Just dream up the 'wishbrick' you want to see LEGO produce someday – and then build it!
Your entry can be as big or as small you like, and you can build with real bricks or digital software. Be sure to only use existing, unmodified LEGO elements in your construction. It is preferable that it is possible to legally build it, i.e. avoid floating connections in your digital builds, but that is a minor point compared to the importance of the innovative brick concept itself!
New Elementary's Thomas Jenkins built this tongue-in-cheek example for you. His tip is to start by thinking about how you will build the smallest details of the element, which in this case were the connectors like clip, bar and stud. If you are in need of more inspiration for building an element out of LEGO elements, take a look at this MOC from Tom Loftus to see what we mean.
We have also published the gallery of all entries received to date! Check it out.
Judges will be looking for imagination and creativity in your wishbrick ideas, and the quality of your building will also play a smaller part. We can’t wait to see what you can come up with!

I love it, very excited to try my hand at this! The requirement to build it out of existing elements adds some difficulty, especially for my ideas involving compound curves or triple rounded corners.
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad you are keen. As mentioned, the building technique is a lesser consideration - the judges will allot more weight to your ideas.
DeleteNow this is a good contest idea. I've had a brick type in mind that I've wanted forever. A 1 axle version of Technic, Axle Connector Hub with 3 Axles
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad you're up for this!
